The Study of Natural Compounds as Antidepressants by Bioinformatics Methods

According to the World Health Organization, neuropsychiatric disorders pose an increasingly greater burden on health, society, and economy of countries. Currently, there are strategies prevent some these disorders, treatments or means alleviate their symptoms. In case depression, medication consists antidepressant drugs. Such drugs can also be used in other conditions like anxiety, pain, insomnia. A shortcoming currently antidepressants is occurrence side effects that sometimes unbearable for patient. this respect, a promising direction usage medicinal plants. Plant parts rich phytochemicals could beneficial mental by acting various targets. Here, we investigated effect ten natural compounds from sage, mint, citrus. The biological activity was calculating pKi values affinities dopamine receptor D2, serotonin transporter (SERT), 5-hydroxytryptamine 1A (5-HT1A) using quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models. Our results showed linalyl acetate, 1,8-cineole, neryl acetate efficient neuroleptics.
